I’ve enjoyed using Tumblr as my blog. However, I decided to launch a brand new url and blog. You can follow new updates on http://phildunne.com and I still plan to post new illustrations on my Tumblr. Please bookmark for new illustrations!
Vertigo published Ronald Wimberly’s Prince of Cats last week, an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet through the eyes of Tybalt, set in 80s graffiti culture New York. It’s gorgeously illustrated, depicting katana duels and sincere, intimate “summer of our youth” moments with equal skill. Its dialogue is a clever and ceaselessly fun mashup of Shakespeare’s original text with a casual “aw shit girl” street cadence. All these elements combine perfectly, and go down real smooth. Definitely one of my favorite books of the year, I can’t recommend it enough.
